Massachusetts Helmet Legislation

Selina M Cloutier  | Published on 6/3/2016

The bill which would require helmets for any person on horseback, or in a horse-drawn vehicle has passed all the committees necessary to bring it to a House Vote. It is on the list of bills for the House to vote on. This may take some time, the House could vote tomorrow, or it may not happen at all before the session ends at the end of July. You can read the bill athttps://malegislature.gov/Bills/189/House/H2147

MFBF has policy which opposes mandating that riders wear helmets. It would be helpful if members of the Equine Committee wrote/emailed or called their representatives to ask them to oppose the bill should it come to a vote. I’ve attached comments of MFBFs previous comments on the bill. You can find the contact for your legislator here -https://malegislature.gov/People/Search
